In response to a Face Book post:
I totally agree that the evolution of consciousness is irrepressible. But I don’t agree that artificial intelligence is the reason it’s irrepressible. In fact, I think AI can get in the way of the evolution of consciousness. It can make us less conscious rather than more conscious if not used wisely.
While AI can be very useful, especially in a society as complex and technology dependent as ours, it can be dangerous if misused or not used with discretion or safeguards.
It can be used to create false realities, such as make it appear in videos, photos, or audios that someone did or said something they didn’t say or do, or it can subtly alter a subtle meaning or impression.
It can be programmed to set off actions or consequences that can get out of control without human intervention.
It appears to me that the motivation for AI originates, in part, from the human proclivity to make things easier, faster, with less effort or involvement. This then leads to us taking less responsibility for what we are creating in our lives and in the world. That, inherently, creates less, not more, consciousness.
AI can be extremely adept at manipulating people into particular points of view or perceptions of reality, i.e. it’s a great gaslighting tool.
Yes, making knowledge available to everyone is very important. But AI can be used to open up truth and/or manipulate it.
Technology plus consciousness is very important. But I think it important to remember that AI is a tool, not the source. Consciousness (which originates from Divine Source) must be in control of AI, not the other way around.
