It appears the will of our nation has shifted, as demonstrated by the country’s massive and ongoing protests of George Floyd’s killing by a policeman. It’s a shift that’s been going on for a long time, probably mostly through the younger generations. But we are now witnessing a historic energetic shift of the nation’s consciousness. Perhaps the coronavirus pandemic has softened us up and given us a sense that we’re all in this together, paving the way for this to happen.

Months ago, during the democratic presidential nomination debates, Marianne William said that America is wounded and out of alignment in its core because we have never fully righted the wrongs toward African Americans that began with slavery. We have never integrated them into the fabric of this country, financially and otherwise. And that we ought to make financial reparations to the descendents of slaves.

I believe the anger and violence between African Americans and whites originates from this systemic abuse, denigration, and violence toward African Americans throughout American history. Whites are terrified of black anger because, on a visceral level, we know how much they have been wronged by us. Whites know in their souls that we have greatly wronged blacks and fear their anger. This has caused a great division in our nation.

This shift in consciousness we are now witnessing has been happening from both ends — from blacks and from whites, each side moving toward wholeness. But what’s happening now feels like a quantum leap in our consciousness.

We, as a nation, have never been whole because blacks have never been integrated into us as a whole. We are missing something vital when blacks are not acknowledged in the whole of who we all are. We must welcome them in. Their well-being must be incorporated into the well-being of the whole. If we don’t, it’s like trying to play a momentous piece of music with a major harmony missing. It’s as if a part of our soul is truncated.

I am excited to be witnessing and being a part of this historic process toward our wholeness.
